Default The drop rate of obsid shards v high?

I was in fow just b4 and while we were doing the very first quest i got 3 obsid shards!
In the next 5 mins i got one more and then i got an err 7..
Before i got err 7, 11 shards had dropped... This seems very unusual why are they dropping so frequently?? or maybe its just my bad look

(forgive me if this has been mentioned before but search is down....)

I've heard the same thing about Obsidian Shards. I never go to the FoW for lack of interest in farming, but those I know that do say the shards are dropping like rain.

I've also heard that Ectoplasms hardly drop at all anymore. I used to farm UW but it's gotten so tedious and tiring that I refrain from doing it anymore.

Maybe the developers are trying to change the prices of certain materials.

I, for one, don't see shards or ecto's being used in Factions all that much. Some people think rubies and sapphires are going to be used for armor crafters, but I beg to differ. I have a feeling there's going to be new materials introduced, such as the Mud Brick and Clay brick which there already is a crafter for.

I just think people are wasting their time buying and saving all their rubies/saphhires/ectos/shards hoping that they're going to be an integral part of the factions campaign. I might be wrong, but for the average player, obtaining quantities of those is not only tiresome and time consuming, but some just don't even know where to find them or what they even are.

dude, when factions will arrive people will forget those shards and ectos.... theres gonna bo soooo many new items, so if u get em, unless u need armor of them for a current character, just sell em, im sure money will be more usefull then outdated crafting materials.

Yes, sell them for 1k or less so people who know better can buy them.

I think the Ectos have started dropping more regularly than they have in the past week or so. Last night I was on a Tombs run and got 2 ectos. Last week, we did 5 or 6 runs and didn't see one. I've also noticed the price ath the traders has stopped going up.

yeah there was an extreme halt in ecto drops for a few days, i think nearly everyone noticed it.. but then they came bouncing back (6 ectos, 2 black dyes, 2 14^50 weapons, 5 keys from a single smite run)

thats how u know ectos will fall in price! more of them dropping, means more on market, therefor cheaper prices.
remember when they were 9k each? why do u think there 7k now?
so sell for 7k each now rather then 3-4k each later (duh)

it's all luck I'd say. Drop wise, I have had one time when I got 4 shards in a row (Yes it did happen, 4 shard dropped from a mob of 2 warriors and 2 monks, and out of 8 people, they all dropped for me) But I also have had runs where the entire team got absolutely no shards at all.

Yes i think it's totally random too... sometimes you have good runs in a row, some other times you get nothing at all. Over and over again. I mostly do FoW now (normal questing no runs) and the shard % is totally unpredictable, even in the same day you might have extremely different results.

Also depends on the time that you are farming, when there are a lot of people farming u will get far less drops to keep the market in balance.

true, i hardly ever get shards when i go, maybe its cos i always go in district 1? i may have to change district and group up in there or something, in total ive had about... 20 shards, i have been at least 40 times to fow, so yes, it is random i think

Saterday the merch price for shards was 4.5k, yesterday it was down to 3.5k. The droprate has increased (or so I hear from most of my guildies) I myself get at least 2 drops each (spidey farming) run.

Seeing Factions coming out soon, I expect drop rate for rare items to drop more frequenlty for seeing its a major farming place.
